Juan Ramirez Dies 2 Days After Being Struck on Scooter in San Jose

San Jose, CA (May 2, 2024) — A scooter rider who was involved in a two-vehicle crash on April 30 in San Jose passed away from his injuries on Thursday, according to local authorities. The victim was identified as 64-year-old Juan Bosques Ramirez, a resident of San Jose.

Incident Overview: The accident happened around 1:38 p.m. on April 30 at the intersection of South 10th Street and Elizabeth Street. Ramirez was traveling on a Ninebot electric scooter along South 10th Street when he collided with a Tesla Model Y. The Tesla was turning onto South 10th Street from Elizabeth Street at the time. The impact caused Ramirez to fall off the scooter and onto the roadway, where he was struck by a 2008 Chevy Cobalt. Both drivers remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Emergency services transported Ramirez to a local hospital, where he was initially stabilized before succumbing to his injuries on May 2.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: San Jose police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. While both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, the incident remains under review to determine if any traffic violations or negligence contributed to the crash. Should evidence of negligence arise, the family of the Ramirez could consider legal action to pursue compensation for wrongful death, medical expenses, and other related damages.

My condolences go out to the family and friends of Juan Ramirez following this tragic loss. I hope that they receive the support they need during this difficult time.
