WOODLAND HILLS, CA (November 11, 2025) — A 25-year-old motorcyclist lost his life Saturday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Joshua Spearin.
Accident Details: The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway near Fallbrook Avenue. According to the preliminary investigation, Spearin was riding his motorcycle when he collided with a black Chevrolet SUV.
The impact caused the SUV to crash into a white Volkswagen sedan, resulting in a three-vehicle collision on the freeway. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Spearin to Dignity Health-Northridge Hospital Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 9:06 a.m. No other injuries were reported among the occupants of the SUV or the sedan.
Investigation: The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation to determine what caused the collision. The preliminary investigation determined that the motorcyclist collided with the black Chevrolet SUV, which then crashed into the white Volkswagen sedan.
Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances leading up to the initial impact between the motorcycle and the SUV. CHP has not disclosed whether any of the drivers have been cited or if any factors such as speed or distraction are being considered in the investigation.
