Oxnard, CA (May 10, 2024) — A tragic incident occurred early Friday morning in south Oxnard when a 67-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. The victim has been identified as Oxnard resident Josefina Romo.
Incident Overview: According to the Oxnard Police Department, the accident happened shortly before 5:25 a.m. at the intersection of Oxnard Boulevard and Rose Avenue. Romo was crossing Oxnard Boulevard when a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup, driven southbound by a 58-year-old man from Oxnard, collided with her. Romo was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained at the site of the crash to cooperate with the police investigation. Preliminary investigations by the authorities suggest that speed, alcohol, or drugs were not factors in the collision. However, the investigation is still ongoing to determine the precise cause and any contributing factors.
