MCFARLAND, CA (December 4, 2025) — A man died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Elmo Highway and Kendra Street in McFarland. The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 60-year-old Jose Drusso Ferron of McFarland.
Accident Details: The McFarland Police Department reported that at 12:58 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, officers responded to the intersection regarding a crash. When they arrived, they found two vehicles involved in the collision. Officers determined that Ferron, one of the drivers, had sustained significant injuries.
Emergency personnel responded and attempted to save Ferron’s life. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:14 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.
Investigation: The McFarland Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. Police have not made any arrests at this time. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the McFarland Police Department at (661) 792-2121.
Legal Considerations: Two-vehicle intersection crashes require investigation to determine which driver had the right-of-way and whether either driver violated traffic laws. When one driver dies and the other survives, establishing fault becomes essential for both potential criminal charges and civil liability.
Ferron’s death on Thanksgiving Day adds particular sorrow to an already tragic event. While families across the country gathered to celebrate, his family received devastating news that forever changed how they will remember the holiday.
When emergency personnel attempt life-saving measures but a crash victim dies at the scene within minutes, it reflects the severity of injuries sustained in the collision. The brief window between the crash and Ferron’s death suggests the impact was catastrophic.
Wrongful death claims in intersection collisions seek to establish which driver was at fault and hold them accountable. These claims compensate families for funeral expenses, the victim’s pain and suffering before death, lost income and support, and the loss of companionship.
The fact that no arrests have been made does not necessarily mean the surviving driver bears no fault. Investigations take time to complete, and authorities may issue citations or file charges once they determine how the crash occurred.
Ferron’s family deserves answers about what happened and why their loved one died on a day meant for gratitude and family.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Jose Drusso Ferron during this time of immense sorrow.
