Accident Details: The crash occurred around 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of Vernon Avenue and Figueroa Street. Los Angeles Police Department officials say Perez was riding eastbound on Vernon when a southbound vehicle on Figueroa struck him. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved in the crash also collided with two parked cars after hitting Perez. The driver, a man believed to be in his early 30s, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident. Bicycle crashes with vehicles often raise questions about right of way, driver awareness, and road conditions. Fatal bike crashes can result in both criminal investigations and civil claims, depending on the findings.

Families of cyclists killed in traffic collisions may have legal options to pursue wrongful death claims to cover funeral expenses, lost support, and other damages.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Jonatan Perez during this difficult time.
