Joaquin Revuelta Galvez Killed in Pittsburg Hit-and-Run

Pittsburg, CA (November 22, 2024) – On the evening of Friday, November 22, 2024, 59-year-old Joaquin Revuelta Galvez was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking home from church in Pittsburg, California.

Accident Details: The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Willow Pass Road, near the mobile home park where Revuelta Galvez and his family resided. According to police, Revuelta Galvez stumbled and fell into the street, where he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, but he passed away several hours later. Surveillance footage captured the entire incident, and the police do have leads. However, they are withholding information as the investigation progresses.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Hit-and-run accidents like this are particularly egregious because the driver breaches their duty to drive safely and then denies the victims the chance to receive timely medical care by fleeing the scene. Because of this, a hit-and run accident is a crime with severe legal consequences. Surveillance video and evidence from the crash site, such as the recovered headlight, will likely play a pivotal role in identifying the driver and vehicle involved.

If the driver is apprehended, in addition to criminal charges, the driver may face civil action. The family of Joaquin Revuelta Galvez could potentially file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver. Such a claim could provide financial relief for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and accountability for the responsible party.

Family members described Joaquin Revuelta Galvez as a kind neighbor and loving father. His passing is a heartbreaking loss. I offer my condolences to his family and loved ones as they navigate this painful time. His family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with final expenses. Please contribute if you can.
