King and Queen County, VA (March 20, 2025) – Jacob Bozeman, 20, an EMT with American Medical Response, was killed Thursday morning in a collision involving a dump truck and a private ambulance on Route 360 near Fleets Mill Road.
Incident Details: According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred just before 7 a.m. when a dump truck was pulling onto Route 360 and stopped in the median with approximately 40 inches of the vehicle protruding into the travel lane. The private ambulance, driven by Bozeman, struck the driver-side rear corner of the dump truck and overturned into the median.
Bozeman died at the scene. A passenger in the ambulance and the dump truck driver were both transported to the hospital. Authorities noted that Bozeman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The ambulance was not responding to a call and was not carrying a patient.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will assess whether the dump truck’s position in the roadway or other contributing factors, such as visibility, roadway layout, or proper merging practices, played a role in the crash. The fact that the dump truck was protruding into an active travel lane may be critical in determining fault. If negligence is established, Bozeman’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for their loss.
My condolences go out to the family, friends, and coworkers of Jacob Bozeman.
