Jacksonville, FL (October 6, 2025) – A motorcyclist died Monday night after colliding with a semi-truck at a Westside intersection, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Accident Details: Police said the crash occurred around 8:21 p.m. at Normandy Boulevard and Verna Boulevard. Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle was heading west on Normandy Boulevard while the semi-truck was traveling east. Both vehicles were in their respective lanes when they collided in the inside lane. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital where he later died. The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers. Authorities temporarily shut down the roadway during the on-scene investigation and cleanup.
Investigation: Detectives are working to determine how the impact occurred in the inside lane and whether factors such as speed, lane position, or driver behavior contributed. JSO said it was unclear if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Investigators will review physical evidence, vehicle damage, and any available surveillance or dash-camera footage to reconstruct the sequence of events. The name of the deceased will be released after next-of-kin notification.
Legal Considerations: Collisions between motorcycles and semi-trucks often turn on issues like lane discipline, visibility, and safe following or turning distances. Liability assessments typically include analysis of speed, roadway configuration, and compliance with traffic laws. Families who lose loved ones in motorcycle crashes may pursue wrongful death claims to recover funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and other damages if negligence is established.
This was a devastating incident for the Jacksonville community. I offer heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of the rider who lost his life.
