Middleburg Woman Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on I-95 Near Bowden Road

Jacksonville, FL (October 5, 2025) – A 36-year-old Middleburg woman died early Sunday after a semitruck collided with her stopped vehicle on I-95 near Bowden Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Accident Details: FHP said the woman had been involved in a prior crash and was stopped in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Bowden Road a little after 5 a.m. A semitruck traveling north approached and its front end struck the driver’s side of the sedan, pushing both vehicles to the right shoulder. The woman was pronounced dead from her injuries. The semi driver was uninjured, authorities said.

Investigation: Troopers are working to determine how and why the sedan remained stopped in the travel lanes and will evaluate factors such as lighting conditions, visibility, and the semitruck’s speed and lane position. Officials have not released the woman’s name pending next-of-kin notification. No information about citations or criminal charges was available as of the latest update, and the investigation remains active.

Legal Considerations: Fatal crashes involving a stopped vehicle in active lanes often center on issues of hazard awareness, reasonable lookout, and safe speed for conditions. In cases involving commercial trucks, investigators also review hours-of-service compliance, braking distance, and vehicle maintenance. Surviving family members may consider a wrongful death claim to recover funeral expenses, loss of income, and other damages if negligence is established.

This was a heartbreaking loss for the victim’s family and the Jacksonville community. I offer sincere condolences to her loved ones.
