Innocent Driver Killed in Pursuit-Related Crash on Florin Road in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA (June 7, 2025) – An innocent driver tragically lost their life Saturday afternoon following a high-speed pursuit that ended in a seven-vehicle collision in South Sacramento, near Florin Road and Interstate 5.

Incident Details: The crash occurred after Sacramento police responded to a domestic violence-related call on Farm Dale Way. When officers tried to stop the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Daniel Cunningham, he fled in a vehicle. The pursuit ended when Cunningham crashed into multiple vehicles at the intersection of Florin Road and Greenhaven Drive. One uninvolved motorist died at the scene, and others sustained varying injuries, though their conditions were not immediately released.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: After the crash, Cunningham attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by authorities. He was later taken to a hospital and subsequently booked into jail on charges including felony pursuit, domestic violence, and a parole violation. The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation and will determine whether additional charges are warranted.

Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and all those affected by this tragic event.
