Accident Details and Ongoing Investigation: the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a hit-and-run. Deputies arrived to find Colvin lying in the center lane of Broadway, conscious and breathing. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Colvin succumbed to his injuries. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma, and the manner was classified as a homicide. Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Authorities need to identify and locate the vehicle and driver involved in this incident. This investigation could include gathering and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses or residences, and seeking additional eyewitness testimony. Also, understanding why the driver chose to accelerate and strike Colvin is crucial. Was there a prior altercation, or was Colvin targeted for a specific reason? This information will help determine the appropriate charges and the context of the incident.

The driver, once identified, may face serious criminal charges, including vehicular manslaughter or homicide. In addition to criminal liability, the driver could also be held civilly liable for wrongful death, which could result in significant compensation for Colvin’s family.

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Brian Colvin during this difficult time.
