Hit-and-Run Claims the Life of Aimee Younkin in Ukiah

Ukiah, CA (August 8, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run accident took the life of 41-year-old Aimee Younkin, a Humboldt County resident, earlier this month on Highway 101 near Ukiah, California.

Accident Details: The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of the incident on August 22, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m. According to the CHP, the collision occurred in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, just south of Lake Mendocino Drive. The exact timing of the incident remains unclear, but investigators believe Younkin was struck by a vehicle sometime between Thursday, August 8, and Saturday, August 10.

Younkin, whose mailing address was listed in Arcata, tragically lost her life as a result of this collision. The driver involved in the incident fled the scene, leaving authorities to search for additional information.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that identifying the driver responsible for the hit-and-run is a critical aspect of this investigation. Identification often involves reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing potential witnesses, and analyzing physical evidence from the scene.

In addition to potential criminal charges against the driver, there could also be a civil claim for wrongful death. Younkin’s family may be entitled to compensation for their loss, including funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and other damages.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Aimee Younkin during this challenging time.
