Santa Cruz Mountains, CA (July 27, 2025) – A collision involving a motorcycle and a Tesla resulted in two fatalities Sunday afternoon in the Santa Cruz Mountains region.
Accident Details: California Highway Patrol officers responded around 3:00 p.m. to the area of Bear Creek Road and Deer Creek Road. According to investigators, a Tesla traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Both riders were thrown from the bike and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla driver suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP continues to investigate what led the Tesla to cross into oncoming traffic. Investigators will review speed, possible driver impairment, and event recorder data. In fatal motorcycle accidents, surviving family members may pursue wrongful death claims depending on the findings of the investigation.
