Graves County, KY (June 24, 2025) – One person was killed Tuesday morning in a fiery crash involving a passenger car and a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 45 South in Graves County, according to the Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative and local authorities.
Incident Details: The Graves County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. near the intersection with KY 849. The collision caused the car to burst into flames. Emergency responders arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was reportedly uninjured.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Graves County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Fire damage may complicate evidence recovery, but investigators will rely on witness statements, semi-truck dashcam footage, and vehicle black-box data to determine fault. If the victim’s family can establish negligence—such as speed, inattention, or improper lane usage—they may have grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck driver or their employer.
We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the person lost in this tragedy.
