Santa Ana, CA (April 11, 2024) – A fatal collision early Thursday morning at the intersection of Bristol Street and Segerstrom Avenue resulted in the death of 44-year-old motorcyclist Flor Mecon Granados. The other party involved, 29-year-old Mario Celestino Torres, has been charged with multiple offenses including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Incident Overview: At approximately 3 a.m., Torres, driving a 2024 Mazda, reportedly rear-ended a motorcycle ridden by Granados as both headed northbound on Bristol Street. The impact from the car caused significant injuries to Granados, who was later pronounced deceased due to the collision.

Investigation and Legal Implications: Mario Celestino Torres has been formally charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. Additional charges include a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury. Torres has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is expected to return to court for a pretrial hearing on May 15. Based on this information, the family of Flor Granados may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim for their loss, including funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and more.

I offer my sincerest condolences to the family of Flor Granados in the aftermath of this horrific crash. I hope that the driver is held accountable for their actions and that the family receives the support they need.
