Five Injured, One Critically, in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Semis on I-70 in Colorado

Summit County, CO (June 6, 2025) — A major crash involving two semi-trucks and multiple passenger vehicles shut down Interstate 70 in both directions Wednesday afternoon, leaving five people hospitalized—one in critical condition, according to emergency officials.

Incident Details: The collision occurred around 3:03 p.m. near mile marker 209 on I-70 eastbound, just west of the Eisenhower Tunnel. According to the Colorado State Patrol, a westbound semi-truck collided with another semi, sending both across the median and into oncoming traffic. One of the trucks then struck additional vehicles in the eastbound lanes.

Five people were transported to St. Anthony Summit Medical Center, including one male who was later airlifted to a trauma center in Lakewood due to life-threatening injuries. No fatalities were reported at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will likely examine black box data, driver logs, and vehicle maintenance records to determine whether speed, load security, brake condition, and driver attention contributed to the collision.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured parties may be eligible to pursue personal injury claims to cover medical bills, trauma care, long-term recovery costs, and pain and suffering.

I wish all those injured a full recovery.
