Rancho Cordova, CA (November 8, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle collision in Rancho Cordova on Friday, November 8, 2024, resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman, Meuy Johnson, and left three others injured.
Accident Details: The crash occurred near the intersection of Borderlands Drive and Douglas Road around 9:15 p.m. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded. Johnson, who was driving one of the vehicles, succumbed to her injuries. The three other occupants of her vehicle, including two children, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
The collision was classified as a hit-and-run. The driver of the second vehicle, 33-year-old Owen Cruz, also known as Ogan Gencer, fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended early the following day and charged with vehicular manslaughter involving alcohol or drugs, DUI causing injury or death, and causing an accident resulting in injury.
