Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Valencia Kills Terry Ivory and Injures One Passenger

Valencia, CA (August 10, 2024) – On Saturday, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a tragic motorcycle accident in Valencia Park claimed the life of 25-year-old Terry Ivory of Rancho Cucamonga and left his passenger with life-altering injuries.

Accident Details: The incident began as a routine traffic stop in the 6200 block of Imperial Avenue. According to reports, Ivory fled the scene. Approximately ten blocks from the initial stop, Ivory lost control of his motorcycle, resulting in a violent crash into a parked pickup truck. Both Ivory and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle upon impact.

Tragically, Terry Ivory was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, whose name has not been released, sustained severe injuries, including the loss of a leg. Her condition has been described as life-threatening.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several factors could have contributed to this tragic accident. Investigators will likely consider whether a vehicle malfunction, such as brake failure or another mechanical issue, played a role in Ivory’s loss of control. Additionally, road conditions—such as uneven pavement, debris, or poor lighting—could have contributed to the crash. Driver behavior is also a critical factor. High speeds, aggressive maneuvers, or distracted driving may have made it more difficult for Ivory to navigate the streets safely.

Wrongful Death: Determining the precise cause of the crash is essential not only for understanding what happened but also for assessing liability. If negligence is found to have caused the accident, Ivory’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim and recover compensation.

Comparative Negligence: In cases like this, where a driver flees from a traffic stop, comparative negligence becomes crucial in determining the compensation available to the victim’s family. California operates under a comparative negligence system, meaning that if the deceased driver is found partially at fault, the compensation awarded to their family could be reduced proportionately.

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Terry Ivory during this difficult time. I wish the injured passenger a fast recovery.
