San Diego, CA (June 4, 2025) — A high-speed collision at a Pacific Beach intersection left one woman dead and three others injured late Wednesday night, according to San Diego authorities.
Incident Details: The crash occurred just before 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Mission Bay Drive. San Diego Police say a 21-year-old man was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Corvette southbound on Mission Bay Drive at high speed when he ran a red light and struck a 2018 Jeep Cherokee that was turning onto Grand Avenue.
A female passenger in the Corvette died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family. The driver of the Corvette and both occupants of the Jeep were transported to the hospital with injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: San Diego Police continue to investigate and stated that drugs or alcohol are suspected to have played a role in the crash. In addition to the alleged impairment, investigators will examine whether speeding, red-light violations, or other factors contributed to the crash.
Pending the investigation’s findings, the victim’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim to recover funeral costs and receive compensation for pain and suffering and loss of companionship. The injured Jeep occupants could file a personal injury claim to seek compensation for medical bills, lost income, and emotional distress.
My condolences go out to the family of the deceased woman, and I wish the surviving victims a full recovery.
