Motorcyclist Killed in Head-On Crash on State Route 79 Near Warner Springs

Warner Springs, CA (October 14, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on crash on State Route 79 near Warner Springs, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Accident Details: The collision occurred around 3:45 p.m. on SR-79 near mile marker 20, just north of the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. CHP officials said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, they collided head-on with a northbound pickup truck. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The driver of the truck remained on site and cooperated with authorities. Both lanes of SR-79 were closed for several hours as investigators examined the wreckage and crews removed debris from the roadway.

Investigation: CHP’s Border Division is handling the investigation. Officers are reviewing physical evidence, including impact points, skid marks, and roadway conditions, to determine how the collision occurred. They will also assess whether speed, lane positioning, or visibility played contributing roles. The victim’s identity will be released after notification of family members. No citations or arrests were announced in initial reports.

Legal Considerations: Fatal motorcycle collisions often involve complex factors such as driver awareness, safe passing distance, and lane control. Families of victims may pursue wrongful death claims to recover funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and emotional damages if negligence is established. Preserving police reports, photographs, and witness statements can be crucial for future legal action.

This was a heartbreaking loss for the victim’s family and the Warner Springs community. I extend my deepest condolences to those mourning this tragedy.
