RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (July 10, 2025) – A tragic crash involving six vehicles left two people dead and three others seriously injured Thursday morning on Interstate 10 near the Bob Hope Drive exit in Rancho Mirage, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Accident Details: The crash occurred just before 7:00 a.m. when a semi-truck traveling westbound on I-10 crossed the center median and entered the eastbound lanes, colliding with multiple vehicles. Social media video captured the moment the big rig breached the median barrier and crashed into oncoming traffic.
Cal Fire Riverside confirmed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other individuals suffered serious injuries, including one person who was ejected from their vehicle during the collision. All three injured victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The multi-vehicle crash led to a full closure of eastbound I-10 for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators worked to clear the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The California Highway Patrol has identified the semi-truck driver as the at-fault party in the crash. Authorities have not yet released additional details about why the truck crossed the median. In cases like this, investigators typically examine factors such as driver fatigue, medical emergencies, mechanical failures, or loss of vehicle control.
Truck accidents involving median crossovers are particularly catastrophic due to the sudden nature of the impact and the size difference between commercial trucks and passenger vehicles. Victims and their families may have legal options under California law if the investigation confirms negligence or regulatory violations.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this crash and wish strength and healing to those who were injured.
