Santa Rosa County, FL (March 27, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 Westbound near the Avalon Boulevard exit injured two people and caused significant traffic delays on Thursday evening.
Incident Details: Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers responded to the crash around 7:40 p.m. at mile marker 22. According to FHP, a flatbed truck traveling westbound experienced a tire blowout and initially pulled onto the left shoulder. The truck driver attempted to move across lanes to reach the right shoulder but reportedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
As the flatbed truck crossed the lanes, a sedan traveling in the same direction could not avoid a collision. The sedan’s driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was also hospitalized.
The westbound lanes of I-10 were temporarily closed for emergency response and investigation but reopened later that evening at approximately 10:18 p.m.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The FHP is investigating the crash. Investigators will likely assess whether the truck driver’s decision to move across lanes without yielding, the condition of the vehicle and tires, and whether appropriate safety measures were followed during the emergency stop.
If the flatbed truck driver is found to have acted negligently, the seriously injured driver of the sedan may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim. Such a claim could seek compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other related damages.
I extend best wishes to both individuals involved and hope for a full recovery for the injured parties.
