Dos hospitalizados tras un choque de tres vehículos con un semirremolque en la ruta 23 en Illinois

Marengo, IL (July 27, 2025) — According to local fire officials, two people were hospitalized Sunday morning following a three-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and an electric vehicle on Route 23 south of River Road in unincorporated Marengo.

Incident Details: The Marengo Fire & Rescue District responded around 10:50 a.m. to the 3800 block of North Route 23, where they found three heavily damaged vehicles spread across approximately 1,200 feet of roadway. Eight people were involved in the crash. Two occupants of a dark-colored Tesla sedan were transported to a hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries. Five occupants of a red minivan and the male driver of the semi-truck declined medical transport.

Route 23 was closed in both directions for more than an hour while crews worked to clear the scene and treat the injured.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities will likely examine whether factors such as following distance, lane changes, or distracted driving played a role. Vehicle damage patterns, witness statements, and any available dashcam or traffic camera footage will be crucial in determining fault.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured victims may be able to pursue personal injury claims to recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and other losses.

Wishing those injured a full and swift recovery.
