Tragic Crash in Big Bear Lake Kills Halee Willis and Injures Two Children

Big Bear Lake, CA (September 27, 2024) – On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a tragic accident occurred in a residential neighborhood of Big Bear Lake, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Halee Willis and injuries to two children.

Accident Details: According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree at the intersection of Swan and Pinecrest Drives. Upon arrival, deputies found Willis and the children had sustained serious injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Willis succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. Currently, there is no update on the condition of the injured children.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that there are several avenues to consider in the investigation.

  • Was there a vehicle defect? Investigators will determine whether any vehicle defects contributed to Willis losing control.
  • What was Willis’s behavior? Examining her behavior prior to the crash could provide insights into whether she was impaired or distracted.
  • Were there poor road conditions? A road defect or hazard may have caused the vehicle to crash into the tree.

Willis’s family members may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit if it can be established that another party’s negligence contributed to the accident. Similarly, the family may be able to file a personal injury claim on behalf of the children for the injuries they sustained.

My thoughts and condolences go out to Halee Willis’s family and friends during this difficult time. I wish the two injured children a fast recovery.
