Tina Taylor, 55, Killed in Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision on Clovis Avenue

Clovis, California (October 29, 2025) — Authorities have identified the woman struck and killed Tuesday night in Clovis as Tina Taylor, 55, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Incident Details: The fatal collision occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on October 28 along Clovis Avenue just south of Griffith Way, near the intersection of Clovis and Ashlan Avenues. According to the Clovis Police Department, Taylor was crossing Clovis Avenue eastbound when she was hit by a northbound vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures, but Taylor succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and cooperated with the authorities. Police confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors in the crash.

Clovis Avenue was closed for several hours Tuesday night as officers from the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) processed evidence and documented the scene.

Investigation: The Clovis Police Department continues investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision. Investigators are analyzing roadway conditions, visibility, and pedestrian signals to determine whether lighting, driver inattention, or crossing location contributed to the crash.

Under the California Vehicle Code, drivers are required to yield to pedestrians crossing within marked or unmarked crosswalks at intersections. However, pedestrians must also exercise caution and avoid entering the roadway suddenly when a vehicle is too close to stop safely. The CRU will evaluate both perspectives to determine whether any violations occurred.

Police have not announced whether citations or charges will follow. Data from nearby traffic cameras or witness statements may help clarify how far Taylor was from a crosswalk or intersection when struck.

Legal Considerations:  When a pedestrian is killed in a collision, investigators typically assess whether the driver was operating their vehicle safely and within posted limits. Even when impairment is not a factor, driver distraction, excessive speed, or failure to maintain proper lookout can establish negligence under California civil law.

If negligence is proven, the surviving family members of Tina Taylor may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim, seeking compensation for funeral costs, emotional loss, and related damages. An attorney experienced in pedestrian injury and wrongful death law can help ensure that all responsible parties are held accountable.

I extend my deepest condolences to the Taylor family and friends as they grieve this sudden and heartbreaking loss.
