TEMECULA, Calif. — Four people were killed and two others seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 9:30 p.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway north of Winchester Road.
Incident details show that a BMW traveling recklessly in the northbound lanes veered left, crossed over the concrete median, and entered the southbound lanes directly into the path of a white Nissan Sentra. The front of the Nissan struck the BMW’s right side, and the BMW caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames. Good Samaritans pulled the 25-year-old BMW driver from the vehicle; he sustained major injuries and was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center. His passengers — a 23-year-old woman, a 14-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl, all from Moreno Valley — died at the scene. The Nissan’s 35-year-old driver, from Wildomar, was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital, while his 22-year-old passenger was hospitalized in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities said alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and the cause of the BMW’s reckless driving remains undetermined. The CHP is asking anyone with information to contact its Temecula Area office at (951) 466-4300.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this devastating tragedy.
