Muere un peatón en un accidente en Tahoe City presuntamente por conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol

Tahoe City, California (September 5, 2025) — A man in his 60s was killed Friday night after being struck by a suspected DUI driver near Tahoe City, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: CHP officers responded shortly before 11:30 p.m. to Highway 28, west of Rocky Ridge Road. Investigators said the pedestrian was walking along the right shoulder when he was struck by an eastbound Ford Explorer driven by a woman from Tahoe City. The man died at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. The CHP is continuing its investigation to determine the driver’s level of impairment, speed, and other contributing factors. In DUI-related pedestrian fatalities, the at-fault driver may face felony charges such as gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. From a civil perspective, the victim’s family may pursue a wrongful death lawsuit to recover funeral costs, lost financial support, and damages for emotional suffering.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the man killed in this Tahoe City crash.
