Downey, CA (August 16, 2025) – A 73-year-old woman was killed and a 24-year-old woman was seriously injured after a car crashed into the family’s home in the early morning hours.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Gallatin Road when a 24-year-old man from Maywood drove straight into the residence. One woman inside the house was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman, age 24, was rushed to a trauma center with serious injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Authorities confirmed he was uninjured. His name has not yet been released. Investigators will rely on toxicology reports, crash reconstruction, and surveillance video to determine the full scope of responsibility.
