Bicyclist Sinahi Moises Garcia, 27, Killed in Colton Hit-and-Run Crash

Colton, California  (February 6, 2026) — A 27-year-old Corona resident was killed early Thursday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle in San Bernardino County. Authorities identified the victim as Sinahi Moises Garcia.

The fatal collision occurred around 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Key Street in the city of Colton. When officers arrived at the scene, they located Garcia suffering from severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Incident Details: According to the Colton Police Department, Garcia was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection. The driver fled the area before officers arrived, leaving Garcia critically injured in the roadway.

At this stage, investigators have not released details about the suspect vehicle or driver. It is unclear whether the bicyclist was traveling through the intersection or crossing at the time of impact. The early morning hour may factor into the investigation, particularly regarding lighting conditions and visibility.

Garcia was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Investigation: The Colton Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation. Detectives will likely review nearby surveillance footage, traffic cameras, and potential witness statements to identify the suspect vehicle and reconstruct the sequence of events.

Hit-and-run investigations often focus on locating damaged vehicles with front-end or windshield damage consistent with a bicycle collision. Investigators may also examine roadway markings, debris patterns, and bicycle damage to determine vehicle speed and direction of travel at the time of impact.

Authorities have not announced any arrests. The case remains active as law enforcement works to identify the driver responsible.

Legal Considerations: Under California law, drivers involved in a crash resulting in injury or death are legally required to stop, render aid, and provide identifying information. Fleeing the scene of a fatal collision is a felony offense and carries significant criminal penalties.

Bicyclists remain among the most vulnerable roadway users. When a driver leaves the scene, it not only complicates the investigation but also denies immediate assistance that could affect survival outcomes.

In addition to criminal prosecution, the Garcia family may consider pursuing a wrongful death claim. These civil cases can help address funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and financial support. Even if the at-fault driver is not immediately identified, other insurance avenues, such as uninsured motorist coverage, may be explored.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Sinahi Moises Garcia during this difficult time.
