Long Beach, CA (March 29, 2025) – A man driving a stolen flatbed truck led authorities on a chaotic, high-speed pursuit across Los Angeles County on Friday, ramming multiple vehicles before crashing in Long Beach and being taken into custody.
Incident Details: The pursuit began around 2:45 p.m. near the Harbor 110 Freeway and Adams Street and continued for miles across surface streets and freeways, including the 605 Freeway and roadways through Whittier and Long Beach. The driver, who at times exceeded 100 mph and drove on the shoulder and center medians, struck multiple vehicles along the route.
In a final act of recklessness, the suspect rammed into several cars at a Long Beach intersection before losing control and crashing into a Sherwin-Williams paint store parking lot. He attempted to casually walk away from the scene but was tackled and arrested by LAPD officers. One officer and the driver of an SUV hit during the final crash were transported to the hospital for injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are investigating the pursuit and the damage caused across multiple jurisdictions. Charges may include grand theft auto, felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), and hit-and-run. Victims of the suspect’s actions may be eligible to file personal injury claims for vehicle damage, medical treatment, and emotional distress. The use of a stolen commercial vehicle may also raise liability concerns for the property owner, depending on the circumstances of the theft.
Wishing all injured parties a full recovery.
