LIVERMORE, CA (July 15, 2025) – Ryan Joshua Aquino Amigable, a 21-year-old from Oakley, was killed Tuesday evening in a head-on crash on Highway 84 near Livermore, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
Accident Details: The crash occurred just before 6:20 p.m. on Highway 84 west of the Ruby Hill Drive intersection. CHP reports that the driver of a westbound Lexus IS 250 lost control for unknown reasons, crossed the median, and struck Amigable’s eastbound Honda Civic head-on.
Amigable was pronounced dead at the scene. His family said he was driving home from work at a local hospital when the crash happened. Bystanders were unable to assist due to the severity of the wreckage and the condition of the vehicle.
The driver of the Lexus was airlifted to a regional hospital with critical injuries. CHP has not announced any arrests or specific charges at this time.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The California Highway Patrol’s Dublin office is investigating the crash. In head-on collisions involving lane-crossing vehicles, investigators typically assess vehicle speed, road conditions, and potential driver error or mechanical failure.
Families impacted by fatal crashes may pursue wrongful death claims for funeral costs, emotional suffering, and loss of financial support. In cases where another driver crosses into oncoming traffic, civil liability is often a key factor in the legal outcome.
Remembering Ryan Amigable: Amigable’s family describes him as a loving son and big brother to six younger siblings. His mother, Annabelle Elopre, shared that his 22nd birthday would have been on August 1. Amigable enjoyed staying home, spending time with family, and collecting action figures—a hobby he loved.
Services for Ryan will be held on July 24 and July 25.
