Roderick Nared, de 67 años, muere en un atropello de peatones en Claremont Avenue y The Uplands en Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA (July 8, 2025) – Roderick Nared, 67, died Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle while walking in Berkeley’s Claremont neighborhood, according to the Berkeley Police Department and the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.

Accident Details: The collision occurred around 9:25 p.m. near the intersection of Claremont Avenue and The Uplands. Authorities say a 28-year-old woman from Emeryville was driving southbound on Claremont in a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq when she struck Nared.

When first responders arrived, Nared was found lying in the roadway with serious injuries. He was transported to Highland Hospital by the Berkeley Fire Department, but despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Berkeley Police Department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team is reviewing the incident. Investigators have not yet released information on contributing factors such as speed, visibility, or pedestrian right of way. The intersection where the crash occurred is controlled by a traffic light and has multiple lanes in each direction.

Pedestrian fatalities often lead to detailed reviews of driver conduct, roadway design, and traffic control systems. Families affected by fatal pedestrian accidents may have legal options to pursue wrongful death claims for funeral expenses, lost companionship, and other damages.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Roderick Nared during this difficult time.
