Los Angeles, California (October 24, 2025) — A 74-year-old woman was struck and killed Friday evening in a hit-and-run crash while crossing the street in West Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Incident Details: The fatal collision occurred around 5 p.m. near Pico Boulevard and Fox Hills Drive. Investigators said the woman was walking in a marked crosswalk when a westbound black Audi Q3 hit her, believed to be a 2011–2018 model. The driver did not stop to help and fled the scene immediately after the impact. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released pending family notification.
The Los Angeles Police Department released images of the suspect vehicle and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver. LAPD emphasized that the driver “failed to stop, identify themselves, and render aid to the pedestrian as required by law.” A reward of up to $50,000 has been offered for information leading to the offender’s identification, arrest, and conviction.
Investigation: The LAPD’s West Traffic Division is leading the investigation. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding businesses and traffic cameras to trace the Audi’s route after the collision. Investigators will also search auto body shops and repair records for recent work on vehicles that match Audi’s description.
Collisions involving pedestrians at marked crosswalks frequently include violations of the California Vehicle Code, which makes it a felony to flee the scene of a crash that causes injury or death. Detectives are treating the incident as a felony hit-and-run and are encouraging witnesses or residents with dashcam footage to come forward.
Legal Considerations: The family of Rima Manucharyan may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim even if the at-fault driver has not yet been identified. Under California law, victims of hit-and-run crashes can sometimes recover compensation through their own uninsured motorist coverage or other civil remedies. Once the suspect is located, the family may seek damages for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and punitive damages to punish and deter reckless disregard for human life.
Pedestrian fatalities in marked crosswalks often involve clear liability, as motorists have a legal duty to yield to pedestrians crossing lawfully. If investigators confirm the driver’s negligence, criminal and civil actions may proceed concurrently. These cases highlight the severe consequences of fleeing the scene and the importance of witness cooperation in securing justice for grieving families.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Manucharyan family and loved ones and hope the suspect is swiftly identified and brought to justice.
