Portland, MI (July 5, 2025) – Multiple people were killed Friday afternoon in a crash involving a semi-truck on I-96 near Portland, according to Michigan State Police.
Accident Details: The crash happened around 2:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-96 between Grand River Avenue and Kent Street. Authorities confirmed that multiple vehicles were involved, including a semi-truck. At least three people were pronounced dead at the scene. The freeway was shut down for several hours as emergency personnel responded and cleared the wreckage.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Michigan State Police are investigating the cause of the crash and have not yet released the identities of the victims.
