Pomona, CA (August 11, 2025) – A driver was killed early Monday morning when a tire from a truck came loose and smashed through the windshield of a sedan on the 60 Freeway in Pomona.
Incident Details: The California Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the South Garey Avenue offramp. A tire from a truck entered traffic and struck the driver’s side windshield of a white sedan, fatally injuring the driver. Firefighters responded to the scene and worked on the wreckage, with video showing the sedan’s windshield shattered and a big rig tire nearby.
Investigation: The California Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances that led to the tire detaching from the truck. Officials have not yet released the identity of the driver or information on the truck involved.
