Perris, CA (November 29, 2024) – A fatal collision occurred in Perris on Friday, November 29, claiming the life of 48-year-old Tiyon Clark of Moreno Valley.
Accident Details: According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported at 12:42 p.m. at the intersection of East Ramona Expressway and North Redlands Avenue. Authorities stated that a semi-truck pulling a box trailer was traveling eastbound on East Ramona Expressway and was about to turn right onto North Redlands Avenue when the silver Lexus sedan driven by Clark collided with the rear of the semi. Tragically, Clark was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Investigation: It is currently unclear whether impairment by drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. Investigators have requested that anyone with additional information about the crash to contact Deputy Joseph Puente.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Investigators will need to determine whether the semi-truck driver complied with traffic laws, including proper signaling and turning procedures. Additionally, they may assess whether visibility, road conditions, or other external factors contributed to the crash. If negligence is found, Clark’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim and recover compensation, including funeral expenses, lost wages, and emotional distress.
However, if Clark’s actions contributed to the collision, such as by failing to maintain a safe following distance or other driving errors, he may bear partial responsibility. Under California’s comparative negligence laws, even if Clark is found partially at fault, his family may still pursue a wrongful death claim for damages, with any recovery adjusted based on the percentage of liability assigned to each party.
My deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Tiyon Clark during this heartbreaking time. I hope they find support and comfort as they grieve this loss.
