South San Francisco, CA (May 14, 2025) — A pedestrian suffered major injuries late Friday night after being struck by a recklessly driven Dodge Charger in a hit-and-run incident on Forestview Drive, according to the South San Francisco Police Department. The suspect, 19-year-old Abraham Jesus Acevedo, was arrested the following day.
Incident Details: The collision occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. on May 10 in the 300 block of Forestview Drive. When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian with significant trauma, requiring transport to a local trauma center for emergency medical care. The driver of the Charger, later identified as Acevedo, fled the scene immediately after the crash.
According to police, Acevedo was involved in two separate high-speed pursuits on Highway 101, one with San Bruno Police and the other with Menlo Park Police. Both pursuits were terminated for public safety reasons. Acevedo was arrested the following day in South San Francisco.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Acevedo is expected to face charges related to felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury, and possibly additional counts stemming from his alleged reckless driving and flight from law enforcement.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured pedestrian may also pursue a personal injury claim for damages, including medical expenses, long-term rehabilitation, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.
