Playa Del Rey, CA (March 17, 2025) – A woman was struck and killed Sunday evening after a two-car collision caused one vehicle to veer off the road and onto the beach, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The crash occurred just after 7 p.m. at 8255 South Vista Del Mar.
Incident Details: Authorities have not yet determined how the crash occurred, but fire officials confirmed that an approximately 70-year-old driver lost control after the initial impact and plummeted onto the beach, striking the female pedestrian. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries and was seen speaking with police. A second vehicle was involved in the collision, but no details about that driver have been released.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Fatal pedestrian accidents often raise critical questions about liability. Investigators will analyze road conditions, traffic signals, and potential driver negligence to determine what led to the crash. If excessive speed or distracted driving played a role, the victim’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim.
Since details about the second driver remain unclear, authorities will focus on determining fault and whether either motorist’s actions contributed to the crash.
My deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
