Los Angeles, CA (June 16, 2025) — A pedestrian was hospitalized Sunday evening after being struck in a hit-and-run collision near Pershing Square, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. near the intersection of 5th and Hill Streets in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Police say the suspect fled the scene in a red Toyota vehicle. The injured victim was transported to a nearby hospital, though their condition has not been made public.
Earlier in the afternoon, LAPD reported a protest occurring nearby, with demonstrators marching westbound on 1st Street through Little Tokyo. It is unclear whether the hit-and-run was related to the protest activity.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities continue to investigate the collision. Identifying the driver through surveillance footage, eyewitness accounts, and vehicle registration databases is a critical first step.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured pedestrian could be entitled to file a personal injury claim to recover compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
I hope the injured pedestrian makes a full and speedy recovery.
