Ossipee, NH (May 16, 2025) — A collision between a dump truck and a crossover SUV claimed the life of one driver Friday morning on Route 28, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Incident Details: The crash occurred shortly before noon near a local business on Route 28. Witness Paul Ciccotelli reported hearing a loud bang around 11:40 a.m. and observed that a dump truck had collided with an SUV before rolling into a ditch. The truck spilled its contents across the roadway, forcing a full closure of Route 28 for several hours.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin. The dump truck driver survived and was reportedly assisted by bystanders after the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash. The New Hampshire State Police continue investigating whether speed, driver error, vehicle malfunction, or roadway conditions played a role.
