Klamath County, OR (May 3, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a collision with a semi-truck at the intersection of Highway 58 and Crescent Lake Highway, according to the Oregon State Police.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 12:23 p.m. when Terryl Thomas Ball, 47, of Crescent Lake Junction, attempted to enter Highway 58 northbound from Crescent Lake Highway while riding a Yamaha TW200 motorcycle. As Ball entered the highway, his motorcycle collided with the side of a westbound Freightliner semi-truck and trailer driven by Hattan Seraj Alotaibi, 32, of Clackamas.
Ball was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision caused a partial highway closure. Emergency responders from Cascades Central Fire, Crescent Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted the Oregon State Police at the crash site. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The full crash details remain under investigation. In these collisions, key questions for investigators will include who had the right-of-way, whether the truck was speeding, visibility at the intersection, signage or traffic controls at the junction, witness accounts, and dashcam footage.
If negligence is found, Ball’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim and recover compensation, including funeral expenses and loss of financial support.
I extend my condolences to the family and friends of Terryl Ball during this difficult time.
