SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (June 25, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon in a collision with a pickup truck along Highway 1 in rural San Luis Obispo County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 1 and Old Creek Road, north of Cayucos. CHP officials say a 66-year-old man from Morro Bay was riding a Harley-Davidson northbound on Highway 1 when a Dodge pickup turned left directly into his path. The motorcycle struck the truck, ejecting the rider. He died at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The driver of the Dodge, a 63-year-old woman from Paso Robles, was not injured and remained at the scene. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash. At this time, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors, but CHP is continuing to gather evidence, including witness statements and roadway measurements, to determine whether any charges will be filed.
