Los Angeles, CA (January 18, 2026) – The Medical Examiner’s office identified Moses Jimenez, 28, as the man who was killed in the multi-vehicle crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Los Feliz that also injured five others.
Incident Details: The California Highway Patrol reported that a multi-vehicle crash occurred on Sunday at around 3:20 a.m. on the northbound freeway at Los Feliz Boulevard.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said that Jimenez was ejected from a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Five others were also injured in the crash. Another 28-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, as well as a 61-year-old man, a 35-year-old man, and two 22-year-old men in fair condition.
Further details about how the crash happened or what led to the collision have not yet been released.
Investigation: The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the multi-vehicle crash on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Los Feliz Boulevard that killed Moses Jimenez and injured five others.
Investigators will work to determine what caused the collision in the early morning hours, including whether speed, unsafe lane changes, impairment, or driver inattention played a role.
The CHP is expected to review physical evidence from the scene, including vehicle damage, debris patterns, and roadway markings, to reconstruct the sequence of impacts. Authorities may also review witness statements, any available surveillance footage, and vehicle data to establish a clear timeline and identify which vehicle or driver triggered the crash.
Legal Considerations: Multi-vehicle freeway crashes can raise complex liability questions, particularly when multiple injured victims are involved and initial information about how the collision began is limited.
If the investigation determines that one driver acted negligently, civil liability may apply for the injuries and death that resulted. For Jimenez’s loved ones, a wrongful death claim may help surviving family members pursue compensation for funeral and burial expenses, loss of financial support, and the loss of companionship caused by this tragedy.
The other injured survivors may also have personal injury claims to recover medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering.
I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the family and loved ones of Moses Jimenez and wish a full recovery to everyone injured in this crash.
