Monterey County, CA (May 21, 2025) – A woman was hospitalized after a collision between her vehicle and a Monterey County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle Wednesday morning near Salinas.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at the intersection of Blanco and Davis Roads around 10 a.m. A 54-year-old woman was driving a white Audi eastbound on Blanco Road with a green light, while a sheriff’s deputy was heading south on Davis Road responding to a domestic incident with lights and sirens activated. As the deputy began clearing the intersection, the vehicles collided. The Audi suffered significant driver-side damage and came to rest against a traffic pole, while the patrol car had front-end damage. Emergency crews had to extricate the woman, who was then transported to a hospital. The deputy was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, focusing on right-of-way dynamics and whether the deputy’s emergency response protocol factored into the incident. Preliminary reports confirm the woman had a green light, and authorities are working to determine whether sirens and lights were properly heeded.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman and the sheriff’s deputy, and we wish them both a swift and full recovery.
