San Marcos, CA (January 13, 2026) – Mason Boulais, 23, of Escondido, was identified as the motorcyclist killed in a crash with a vehicle in a neighborhood near the intersection of Interstate 95 and state Route 78 on Tuesday.
Incident Details: According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to reports that a white Nissan Altima and a Kawasaki ZX-10R motorcycle had collided near the 2300 block of Montiel Road.
The motorcyclist, Boulais, was found unresponsive in the westbound lane of Montiel Road. Deputies and paramedics provided life-saving measures, but Boulais was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
It was unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
Investigation: The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the fatal crash on Montiel Road involving a Nissan Altima and a Kawasaki motorcycle. Investigators will likely focus on:
