Westwood, CA (February 7, 2025) – Authorities have identified Margaret Jackson, 72, as the victim of a fatal two-car collision on the northbound 405 Freeway in Westwood.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. Friday near the Wilshire Boulevard exit. Jackson was killed along with a dog, and three others were injured. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), an 80-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man suffered critical injuries. A 60-year-old woman was hospitalized in fair condition. A second dog remains missing. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Investigators will determine whether driver negligence, such as speeding, impairment, or distracted driving, contributed to the crash. They will also determine if poor road conditions or vehicle malfunction caused the accident.
Depending on the investigation’s results, the injured victims may be able to pursue personal injury claims against the negligent party to recover compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost income. Additionally, Jackson’s family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit if evidence shows that another party’s negligence caused the fatal collision. Damages could include funeral expenses and loss of companionship.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Margaret Jackson. I also extend my support to those injured and hope for their full recovery.
