Chowchilla, CA (April 8, 2025) – A 49-year-old woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision Monday evening in Chowchilla, and police have arrested a 21-year-old man believed to be responsible, according to the Chowchilla Police Department.
Incident Details: Officers responded to a report of a possible hit-and-run on Trinity Avenue near Ninth Street. When they arrived, they found the female victim lying in the roadway. Emergency responders declared her dead at the scene.
The driver had initially fled but later returned and was detained by police. He was identified as Josue Vasquez, 21, and taken into custody. Investigators arrested Vasquez on multiple felony charges and booked him into the Madera County Jail.
