Muere un hombre de unos 60 años en un atropello en el sur de Los Ángeles

South Los Angeles, CA (May 2, 2025) –  A man in his 60s was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver late Friday night in South Los Angeles. Police are still searching for the driver responsible.

Accident Details: The fatal crash occurred around 10:10 p.m. near the intersection of Wall Street and Manchester Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man was walking northbound across Wall Street when he was hit by a westbound vehicle on Manchester. The driver did not stop to help. Instead, they continued driving westbound, leaving the man in the street. The pedestrian did not survive.

No description of the vehicle or driver has been released as of now. The LAPD is urging anyone with information to come forward. Through the city’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, a reward of up to $50,000 is available for information that leads to the driver’s identification, arrest, and conviction.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: In California, drivers must stop and help if they are involved in a crash. Failing to stop and render aid may implicate the driver in a negligence claim. To identify the hit-and-run driver, investigators will likely examine several key sources of evidence, such as witness statements, surrounding surveillance cameras, and damage at the scene.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation and if the suspected hit-and-run driver is identified, the family may have the right to file a wrongful death claim.

I extend my condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this challenging time.
