Kimberley Shoemaker Dies Following Pedestrian Crash on Railroad Avenue in Newhall

NEWHALL, CA (November 11, 2025) — A 45-year-old woman died after being struck by a car in Newhall last week. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Kimberley Shoemaker.

Accident Details: Sgt. Perkins with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station confirmed that the crash occurred just before 11 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, on Railroad Avenue near Market Street in Newhall. Shoemaker was struck by a car while on Railroad Avenue.

Emergency responders transported Shoemaker to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Despite medical care, she died around 3 a.m. the following morning. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to Sgt. Perkins.

Investigation: The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released information about what caused the collision or whether any citations have been issued.

Investigators are working to determine how the collision occurred on Railroad Avenue near Market Street. The driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

Legal Considerations: Pedestrian fatalities require thorough investigation to establish how the collision occurred and whether the driver violated any traffic laws. Even when a driver remains at the scene and cooperates with authorities, families may still have legal options to pursue compensation through wrongful death claims.

California law allows families of pedestrian accident victims to seek damages for medical expenses incurred before death, funeral and burial costs, and the loss of financial support and companionship. These claims can help families address the economic impact of losing a loved one.

When a pedestrian is struck at night, visibility conditions become an important factor in the investigation. Lighting, crosswalk placement, and driver attentiveness are all examined to determine liability and prevent similar tragedies.

Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Kimberley Shoemaker as they mourn this heartbreaking loss.
