Modesto, CA (February 13, 2025) – A tragic accident in Modesto claimed the life of 34-year-old Kelvin Watson of Modesto.
Accident Details: The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on a curved stretch of road on West Orangeburg Avenue east of West Briggsmore Avenue. Preliminary reports say Mr. Watson was driving a black Ford Mustang east on Orangeburg. The Mustang collided with a Dodge Ram near Evergreen. Mr. Watson sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Ram and the passenger, both Modesto residents, were not injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and law enforcement encourages anyone with information to contact them.
Investigation: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Investigators should review any available surveillance footage to identify the cause of the accident. They should also obtain witness statements and review the scene to try to reconstruct the accident.
- Driver Behavior: One of the key areas of investigation is driver behavior. Investigators should determine if speeding, failure to yield, or impairment contributed to the crash. The crash took place near a curve in the road. Investigators will also examine whether either driver failed to negotiate the turn properly.
- Other Factors: To be thorough, investigators should examine both vehicles to determine if either suffered from a mechanical malfunction. They should also find out if West Orangeburg Avenue had proper signage warning drivers of the curve in the road.
If someone is killed in a multi-vehicle crash due to another’s negligence, their family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim.
I extend my deepest condolences to Kelvin Watson’s family and loved ones. I hope they find support and closure during this difficult time.
